Looking at it retrospectively, Nu Metal was an interesting phenomenon. At least in terms of what it represented (i.e., the last time angsty and (slightly) heavy music had a chance to truly be mainstream), it was commendable. As commercialized as it all was.

This is a good song as well. I normally wouldn't go out of my way to defend Limp Bizkit, but this is the exception. I haphazardly thought of it earlier today, and it motivated me to write this post.

Very good album. Although I slightly prefer Laughing Stock.

Wouldn't that apply to the internet as a whole, and not just specific platforms (such as YT)?

I'm reading All the Pretty Horses and it made me remember what genuinely enjoying reading felt like. I've gone through a hundred pages in about two days, and it probably took me five times that to do the same with To the Lighthouse. I enjoyed Lighthouse, and modernist works in general but McCarthy is something else

>I can't argue with your point, but you're probably, like, really sad or something! Ha ha, yeah, you probably feel s-super unfulfilled!

If anything, an understanding and belief in science will lead to a greater appreciation for consciousness (at least in my experience) because, after doing some reading on scientific literature, one realizes how incredibly complex the systems that govern our physical reality actually are, how little we really understand about them at all, and how incredibly lucky we are to be existing in our current states. Those who claim we have all the answers through science are the ones deserving of mockery and ridicule, and if your STEMfag friend is one of these people, OP, then point out to them that even the greatest scientists to ever live were humbled by their lack of knowledge in the face of all there is to understand about our reality. But noticing mathematical patterns in nature (and understanding, at least to the extent that we can in our current state, WHY those patterns occur) is much more awe-inspiring than any sort of belief in "love" or "God" or "magic" or what have you. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj8Sg8qnjOg&t=637s

Not believing in a God or a higher power does not eliminate the transcendence for beauty in our reality; rather, it enhances it. Life is beautiful because of it's fragile state in the face of the universe and the impossible odds of it ever existing in its current state. Art is beautiful because it speaks to a collective consciousness of what we experience during our lives as human beings, and because what they impart can be internalized as valuable lessons (we do all of our learning from each other, and sharing experiences or ideas, especially skillfully through good art, can provide great benefits to the audience). None of this requires the belief in a God or higher plane of existence; rather, to humble oneself on the porch of the unknown is to truly experience awe of our reality.

Do you guys have any recs of books with themes of dealing with depression and anxiety in an unhealthy way? I'm also interested in absurdism, existentialism and surrealism if that helps but admittedly I am pretty pleb in terms of /lit/erature. I just haven't slept in two days and I think some reading would help me relax.

I feel like I stumbled my entire life. My circumstances are good but I still have 0 clue as to what I’m doing. I feel like every thing up to this point was an accident

Because when you’re dead you can’t experience life. Your life will end naturally so why rush to the finish?
