I've always been someone in love with the IDEA of reading. But as soon as I sit down with a book, I have a tendency to get intimidated, feel stupid not reading fast enough, and ultimately just get too lazy or distracted to finish the book.

Lately though, I just finished a huge academic-style book by working on letting go of the idea that I wasn't a "true reader" if I wasn't banging out 100 pages every time I sat down. I found that once I started even a little bit, there were times where I would naturally read longer without forcing it.

I'm building on this by reading a chapter or so (20-30 pages) of TWO books every day. It feels much more manageable and gives me less anxiety, and should put me on pace for about 2 books every 3 weeks, which isn't so bad. The two books I'm reading now are Development as Freedom by economist Amartya Send (it won the Nobel prize so worth checking out) and Walden by Thoreau. In the future I want to pair a less dense book with a more dense, because these can both be a little foggy.

What about you guys?
