Any good books on how to get out of extreme despair?
I have pretty much not felt any deep joy for at least a decade. I dont feel any joy in social interactions anymore, and i cannot engage in anything romantic either, because i feel it will just eventually fall apart, and a partner is just an extra worry. I once wanted children, but now i just feel like any child is just an extra bundle of extra worries and anxieties, as well as bringing an extra person into a life of worry and suffering. It just feels that anything or anyone i would invest time and effort in will eventually just fall apart anyway, and this falling apart will just cause sorrow.
I feel like even if God were to come down and say he's real and grant me unlimited wishes to do whatever i wanted to, i'd still be unhappy, it would still all just be pointless.

I'd accept any books that could help. Already tried several religious books (really, just the Quran and Bible, and i found neither to be really impressive or helpful).

I read a lot, but i just read for the sake of reading, and i have no idea what makes a writer a great writer, or what separates a masterpiece from trash.
What is some good work on literary criticism that i should delve into, or is it all just a scam?

Apparently she killed two of her handlers, one allegedly abused her.

Hey /lit/, i asked this on /k/ but got nothing. Im looking for books/studies/articles whatever into the changing of army compositions and what the armies of the future will look like.
Quite a lot of armies are still based on NATO vs Warsaw pact paradigms, which is now changing. Any literature on this would be appreciated. This is more about how armies and millitaries change, it's not really about how strategy (though the two are obviously intertwined).

Pic somewhat related, elephants were once seen as war machines but are now outdated.

Damn, that's expensive. Youd think that Manichaeism would be more interesting to scholars, given how it was so highly influential to so many different religions

I do believe elephants have a soul, as well as primtive emotions and even rituals.

Maybe this is a bit of a weird request, but im looking for books that might help a young man who feels that life is completely pointless and is unable to enjoy any experience. Maybe he wants to believe in a God, but in his heart he cant. Can be religious books or psychological books or whatever, ill accept any.
I heard Dostoyevsky touches on this, but im not sure which works to start with.
