The idea is that the removal of traditional structures will produce something new that's both good and bad, and that these contradictory elements will result in progress through their interaction - not there's a utopia at the end of the rainbow where everybody cuddles and holds hands but that it is conflict and struggle that creates the forward motion of human history.
