Hi there /lit/, quick question -

I'm writing an essay on Slaughterhouse-Five, and I'm wondering - should I refer to the protagonist as Billy, or Pilgrim? It's stated in the book that he prefers to be referred to as Billy, but that seems a bit informal. What do you think?

I'd recommend any book by Kurt Vonnegut. He's easy to read, and his books are short as well as extremely satisfying.

Hey lit. I've never been a big book reader, but for my english class, we have to read a choice book in our own time as we study Macbeth in class. Now I really have no idea what book to choose. We were given collegeboard's list of books to select from, but the teacher has also approved books like The Eye of the World. Any recommendations? The list is here:

pic related: most likely option as of now.

You guys are always talking about how great Slaughterhouse 5 is, but no one ever talks about the previous four books. Should I get into this series? What's your opinion on Slaughterhouse 1 - 4?

Hey /lit/, are there any good gay books out there? Like, maybe with the guys/girls having to sneak out, or hide their relationship?
Pic unrelated

This book had a lot of crudity and perversion and I really resent that it was required reading for my 16 year old son.

I never read, /lit/. Time to remedy this. Tomorrow, I shall visit the library and rent books and shit. What would be considered essential? Preferably something from 1950+.

Thinking pic related.

btw, I realise this is probably a much abused question

Hey /lit/

I'm going out to get a book, but I don't know what to get. So I'll just tell you what books I've liked, and what book's I didn't like. I haven't read much, and would like to broaden my horizons so to speak.

Liked: World War Z, Most Stephen King novels, Cather in the Rye, Freakonomics.

In between: Animal Farm, 1984.

Disliked: The Great Gatsby, The House of Leaves, Some of H.P. Lovecraft's stories, Dante's Inferno.

Pic Related. It's what I was thinking about getting.

Is this any good?

Vonnegut was the favorite author of my high school English teacher.
