I now fully understand the appeal of GRRM.

He combines the medievalism that the maladjusted romanticize with edginess...that the maladjusted romanticize.

Not that it was bad. Not that it was good. It is pleb fodder. Largely without substance and easy to digest.

Specifically in that these considerations of 'classic' are not high-minded enough and do not accurately denote what is 'classic' but rather what has 'classic-status'.

For instance this won't be a classic because the meaning is obscured from the reader.

It’s more like the Odyssey, only more fucked up, more epic, and definitely more interesting to read. Is it a commentary on how fucked up things are yet again? Maybe. Probably. Yes. If you don’t have a sense of humor or “bad words” get your ass in a twist, don’t read this fucking book.
