It was so easy to steal books from Borders; I've heard other people on /lit/ corroborate, so I don't think it was just the one that used to be near my house. Was there some secret employee rule to just not give a fuck about the merchandise?

Both of my parents are R.N.s. It can be hard work, especially as people become more obese (they occasionally need fucking forklifts to get people into bed), but aside from that you've got guaranteed job security -my mom quit her job at the nadir of the recession in terms of jobs and found a new one a week later- and if you get certain gigs, like working in the neuro unit or the recovery room, it's not really bad at all.

Nicer hospitals i.e. ones in the suburb pay shit, however; the money's at awful inner-city hospitals. So you have to put up with that. But again, all things considered, it's not so bad.

I thought one of the major points of the film was to be anti-pseudo-intellectualoids, driving the attention from what people think art should be or how they see their times and historical times, to focus on what really matters: production, heart, being there and appreciating it as you can.

But I guess this is just my opinion.

An historic moment flows off the tongue more smoothly, however it looks like shit written. A historic would be better non-verbal.

but thats just like, my opinion, man.

I like him.

I would detect a bit more Hemingway than Fitzgerald -thematically, yeah, he and Scott are of the same ilk, but stylistically McInerney is Fitzgerald's shitty descendant.

The Rules of Attraction is worth a read.

It works both ways. I read the Dark Tower series first and enjoyed it, despite 1 or 2 of the books being a bit of a chore, and then went onto his other works that contained some of the characters used in it. It gives the same effect, if the reverse of the original intent.
