When you read books in your second language, do you translate it sentence by sentence in your head or do you just read it normally as you would a book in your native language and understand what's going on? I used to do the former, but recently, I realized that I've been doing the latter for quite some time now. My target language is French and I've been studying for 6 years, if that's relevant.

Midwit here. What does technique mean? As in technique used by Ellul and Mumford. Is it the process of making something more efficient? As in mechanization?

Why do many leftist writers criticize the mass production of art/culture? Walter Benjamin's aura concept of the original is in a similar wavelength as art auctions, as places like Sotheby's sell artwork for millions because of their uniqueness. But, if art is mass produced the content itself is the only thing that matters.
