I'm desperate for some scifi that doesn't have a leftist framework underpinning everything. TBotNS is of course amazing, but it's quite long and I've read it a few times already.

Any recs, lads? Is there any decent, genuinely reactionary scifi being published?

Chances are if you're starting with the world and then making stories to fit into it those stories will be rubbish. You are better off creating an interesting story involving interesting characters and then creating a world they can fit into.

It's like trying to build a motorcycle and starting with the fairings. You might create some fucking cool looking fairings, but then if the only thing you can afford/fit under the fairings is some rusty, busted old ex-easternbloc engine that sounds like a jackhammer then what's the point of having that bike?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that it is possible to come up with an interesting story after you've created an interesting world. Moreover, I'm sure that creating an interesting story to begin with doesn't preclude the world you create around it from being cool either. However, by and large if you're focusing on the superficial then obviously the deeper bedrock won't be as solid.

You might be surprised at how cool the world you create is when you start with the story and characters and try to fit the world around it. Also, don't be afraid to use even what might seem like crazy ideas to fit the world around your story/characters. It's true what they say: reality is stranger than fiction; if you make it fit it's not going to be 'unbelievable'.
