Poilu, I haven't seen very many people talk about this memoir but I like it a lot. He doesn't revel in the war at all like Junger because he's just an old haughty socialist but him talking about his kids and his comrades helping him with his pack on long marches and shit makes me like him in spite if his self assured frenchness. There's some pretty crazy accounts of his time in the war of movement in 1914 and his time in Verdun and stuff. I'd say it's worth a read if you're interested in WW1 at all.
