Yes Prince of Thorns chronicles the adventures of young Jorg, a badass teenage psychopath and like most adolescents, he is written to be cringy on purpose. Everything in Mark Lawrence's fantastic fantasy novels are written with intent and purpose. There are many fun moments as I'm sure you recall, like when he bent a few town whores over beers with the boys (that one caused quite the uproar LOL) and the time that Jorg knocked over his father's shitmas tree (silly christians) or when he fought all those wicked awesome ghosts! There's more to those ghosts than meets the eye so be sure to sign up for the Broken Empire Trilogy forums to discuss the deep lore with other fans of the breathtaking series and keep up with Mark Lawrence's many epic novels set in the same world. There's plenty of other cool moments after that of course but I don't want to spoil one of the best plot twists in history so I'll keep those cool cards to my chest.
