None, that I know of. I don't think I've known any in maybe 7 or 8 years. This is bad. If anyone found out I read pretty much all the time, they would think there was something dumb about it and me. People these days have a distain for reading, I'm not sure why.

Life would be better if people read more. But also, watch out for thr reading elisits, like on this board (like me) who think they're better than other people.

Pic related. It's the dark tunnel we're in, with no end in sight.

Sorry for the dumb ASOIAF question, but I was just wondering this. I've only read / seen the first book, so maybe it's explained later. She seems a bit off her rocker, with her general behaviour, imprisoning Tyrion without trial, and breastfeeding her son in public...who's six years old.

Not anything by Bolano, Wallace, or Pynchon. I've read a lot of their works, and want something else. I've also read House of Leaves, so not that.

Yay for postmodernism!

This is because of their prose, their characters, and their plots. Does anyone else ever feel this way? Could be the cultural gap if they're non-Western writers, but I dunno. I actually quitre worry about these people.

The UK Vintage imprint (not US), with the red spine is pretty well established. I've also seen the Vintage Classics imprint, and the horrible Orange Heritage Vintage imprint. I saw (for The Time-Traveller's Wife) something called the Vintage Future Classics imprint. It's red at the bottom, and then whatever colour for the rest of it. I thought it was interesting.

I don't know what I'm so interested in these things, I just am. Anyone else seen this?

Pretty excited about these arriving tomorrow, but dunno which to read first. As always, I have this irrational dread that they'll all suck, and I'll hate them all. I always get that when I buy a new book, and I dunno why, and I like most of the books I read.

Nemesis – Isaac Asimov
Cold Spring Harbor – Richard Yates
A Good School – Richard Yates
Disturbing The Peace – Richard Yates
Against The Day – Thomas Pynchon
White Noise – Don DeLillo
Bluebeard’s Egg – Margaret Atwood
Good Bones – Margaret Atwood
A Brief History of Tractors in Ukrainian - Marina Lewycka
Little Infamies – Panos Karnezis

Asimov and Atwood are 2 of my favourite writers, so I want to maybe read those books first. Then again, I like Yates a lot as well. What do you think? Thanks, friends!
