is this postmodernism?
if I had to guess, I would say the old way of existing, by which I mean having clearly defined values that one inherited from his community, was a fleeting privilege of the past. It worked this way just because there was not enough information floating around all the time to distract you from the clear cut way of thinking your ancestry and place of upbringing imposed on you.

The modern man has so much to process and so many sources of all kinds of wisdom from all kinds of cultures, it would be unnatural to strictly adhere to his inheritance and like a man of the old times to remain steadfast in a tradition JUST because he was born into it.

The modern man must undergo the task of carefully examining that which was given to him and by harnessing the blessing/curse of over-information, discern right from wrong, that which is worth keeping and passing on, and that which is to be cast into the voids of eons behind him.

And this examination is precisely what will push man to deploy the greatest tools of all, his own conscience. For in ages past, tradition had caused an atrophy of the soul's faculty of conscience as it was not as crucial.

Those who think of conscience as a instinct, transcendental in nature shall rejoice for the time has come, when the righteous will be differentiated from the sinners or some bullshit like that.
The more refined believers will thank their God for the gift of conscience because they know it will be needed.

But the front the unbelievers point of view, some may say that humanity is ruined.
If what they believe is true, that is conscience is not God-given and there is nothing inherently good about it and as such it is a product of our environment which means it is formed by tradition, but there is not tradition, there is no conscience.
As far as they are concerned, owari da, it truly is over the west has fallen and so on and so forth.

>>Ugh, Anon, why don't you have any books by female authors in your bookshelf
Oh, but I do. And my taste in female authors far exceeds yours. I'm chaining you to my radiator. You're my girlfriend now. Hum songs to me as I rest my head in your lap.

>but most of them come off as defeatist trash who talk about the nameless laborer rather than the Ceaser.
The historical materialist position would be to support someone like Caesar because he is advancing dialectic.
I'll let you in on a little sad irony within Marxism. Past figures like Spartacus are widely celebrated, but the actual political position of Marxists is that our heroes of the past should have been ground into dust by the empires of their day. Despite all their genocide and conquest, our view is that the states like Rome were bastions of progress, and that the ends justified the means when carrying the baton of history.
