I believe you about their lack of curiosity, but it really makes me wonder how creativity originated in their society. They've been innovating constantly in electronics, engineering, automotives, food science, transportation, all sorts of shit. They're talented artists, created their own forms of jazz and their history of great film directors is top 3 worldwide.. Do they just tinker a lot in solitude?

I finished a cursory reading of The Republic recently as a first work of philosophy (and the four classic dialogues), do you think I should spend more time before moving on to later philosophers? I have general knowledge about Plato's theory of forms, divided line, immortality of the soul, method of dialectic, and various historical knowledge, but that's about it. What do you think? My eventual goals are to read Kant and Schopenhauer, and I'm not averse to taking things slow, so please suggest whatever you think is best.

What does one actually learn from reading Plato?

Hey, /lit/, what are some good books for learning how to write? Something focused on how to properly develop characters would be preferable.

Ok, let's resolve this, once and for all. Why is it that women and blacks are so inferior when it comes to making art? Why can't we just finally admit that they're inferior?
