Who else really fucking hates it when a fantasy writer uses a modern phrase or idiom common in real life but clearly unsuitable to the world they've created?

When I was an edgy /lit/ newfag years ago, my mom was asking about book recommendations and asked me if The Hunger Games would be a good gift for her coworkers daughter. Despite having read it and liked it, and being the colossal faggot I was, I told her no because it wasn't well written, just because I had seen /lit/ hating on its literary merit.

It still makes my stomach hurt imagining that this 12 year old girl didn't read an enjoyable kids book because I was such a fucking moron.

Alright guys, here's the thing. I want to be an author but I 1. I suck 2. I'd rather give my work away for free and 3. I want to make money off of it.
So I'm hoping that I've found a means of satisfying all three of these conditions. I've started a blog. I can't find anyone to read it, though, and so I turn to you guys. Would you please critique me?

Okay so I just downloaded the Elder Scrolls IV soundtrack (link in name) and I now I need to read some classic fantasy like a crack addict needs cocaine.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions? No need to suggest any of that postmodern stuff and so forth—I just need some good classic fantasy. But in the end I'm pretty desperate so any suggestion would do!
