Yeah. So it's doubtful that the seven Harry Potter books will ever be studied for their great prose, it's a safe bet that they will be around in some form in a century or two.

Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland aren't regarded as classics because of their great writing. They're classics because of their imaginative inventions.

Just because no one agrees with you, doesn't make you right.

Rupi Kuar : Poetry :: Michael Bay : Film

It's not a hard concept. Sometimes the most popular or the best sellers are not the highest achievement in the arts. Most of literary canon consists of books that weren't the most popular at the time.

It's not a social injustice that she makes a living off substandard poetry. Don't judge art by market cap.

A lot of them are actually good and useful. They should probably be self-help wikipedia articles or memes. Read the wikipedia entry of GTD. It's a super useful methodology. I don't need a whole book for this.

I've also been reading more and storing up my testosterone for some manly writing.

I don't even think about tits anymore.

Pynchon maybe. Similar generation. Kubrick made movies people liked (FMJ) but also stuff that was technically sophisticated by without a wide appeal (Barry Lyndon). Hm... so maybe John Green.

Often in fictional dystopias, members of that society will make claims about the society that are patently untrue from the reader's perspective.

For example: The Giver claims to exist in a world without violence, but they euthanize babbies which is not non-violent to the reader.

It really doesn't matter. They're not as different as you might think. But find a study bible or at least one with some explanatory footnotes. You'll need some background. I also find reading the Wikipedia entry on a book of the bible useful before reading the book itself. Helps frame things.

Welp. That's a bookstore. You could go to one, browse until you find a book that interests you, then buy it. Or just sit in the store and read it like a scrub.

When you get bored, move on to the next book. Don't finish shit you don't like.

Not too difficult, but the first few times I tried to read Cold Mountain I really couldn't get in to it. Waited a few years, picked it up, and was hooked by the end of the first paragraph.
