Only book I dropped last year. Couldn't get past the first 50 pages. Dharma Bums is much better.

What do you lads think of On The Road?

Pretty much all of the Beat stuff goes hand in hand with 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' for me, Specifically Girl From The North Country.

I'd post a link, but Dylan's Copyright Nazis have made the album version unavailable online and everyone knows the song anyway.

The dialouge is nonsense a lot of the time, and it's not even that well written

Can someone recommend some more Bebop literature? I felt like On the Road was definitely on to something important but didn't quite deliver...

Have you read this book? What do you think of it? What themes/messages do you see in it?

I enjoyed reading it, but it was more like an autobiography than an artwork. It didnt seem to be conveying solid messages besides to live life with as much energy as possible. Maybe there was a lot of subtle messages that I didnt pick up on or something.
