I almost cried reading lolita two or three times the novel was just a punch in the guts her hooked me in in the beginning but i just didn't walk away feeling like Humbert loved Dolores sometimes i wish i didn't read it but how could i have known until i did. I had originally thought humbert was going to be a 30 something dating a 16-17 something for a summer fling that's what 4chan and the movie led me to believe but it was a nice surprise when i found the book was going to be edgier and he was into girls much younger than i had anticipated but it kept taking turns i didn't like i feel bad for humbert i because he has trauma from the death of his first love so even though he may do or think bad things i try to remember i am no better than anyone and that i cannot see through humberts eyes or feel how he feels
