Have you ever poured your heart and soul into a love letter and sent it to the one person you thought you'd ever have a chance with in life?

Think of it like doing that, and then they never write back, look you in the eye, or acknowledge your existence.

So, /lit/, I've received mixed answers about this. I'm hoping you guys might point me in the right direction:

Can you submit the same piece to multiple people at once? Some people tell me that you should submit it to one person at a time. They seem adamant about this, but others say that once you have a manuscript, you should start sending it to every publisher that would ever consider it.

Are there any logistical issues with vomiting out manuscripts and sending them to a few publishers at the same time? That is to say, if two of them are interested, are there any legal difficulties since you sent it to both of them, or can you just politely reject one and go with the other?

Pic related. Me in a few years when I'm still unpublished.
