JD Salinger didn't have a very high IQ. But do you know what he had? Depth of soul

Salinger. I'd set up the perfect day for his bananafish any-day, and I'd be ready to catch his rye the moment he yelled "Uggghh, phoonnyyy!".

I believe that catcher in the rye is piece of shit book, but I also believe that the rest of J.D Salinger other writings are fantastic and even better than catcher in the rye.

So tell me /lit/, is my belief wrong ?

Hey /lit/--

I have a humble request--my brother recently has read "catcher in the rye," and though hes almost 25 he has never much been into lit but i think he liked that.

Is there any other good J.D. Salinger that i can recommend for him?? or any other entry level authors/books that you think would be accessible and enjoyable for him to read; i would like none other then to see him read lit more often.

tl;dr, suggest books similar or at a similar level to "catcher in the rye"
