Just about everyone in Western culture is familiar with Frankenstein and its premise about a mad scientist creating a monster out of dead bodies, but to this day I am convinced no one has ever actually read this fucking book. Otherwise they would realize how much weird and random shit there is in it that has nothing to do with that.

For example, there is an entire two chapter segment devoted to telling the story of a young half-Turkish, half-Arabian woman who escapes from her abusive Muslim father in Italy and makes a trek across central Europe to find her French boyfriend living in some shitty cottage in Germany, a man who previously helped her father to escape from imprisonment in Paris but was caught and exiled. Literally none of this has anything to do with Victor Frankenstein or the monster other than that the monster hears them talk about it through the wall while hiding in their shed.

This segment hasn't appeared in any of the numerous film/TV adaptations of the book and while everyone knows Igor (a character who didn't even appear in the original book) literally no one knows who Safie and Felix are.

What the fuck Mary Shelley?

Hey, friends! I have an essay due in 10 days about Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Great read. I have to compare it to either Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, or Heart of Darkness. I have not read any of those three yet, so I was wondering if I could have some help deciding which one I should pick.

Basically, here are the prompts:
>The Wuthering Heights prompt asks to compare Heathcliff and the monster and how they are both alienated from society.
>The Pride and Prejudice prompt asks to compare the different ways both books present the themes of "pride and prejudice."
>The Heart of Darkness Prompt asks to show how narrative point of view influences how we feel about the monster and Kurtz.

I'm terrible at making decisions. Which would you choose? Mind, I'm not asking anyone to write my essay for you - just curious as to which book you all think I should read that would best compliment Frankenstein.

Thanks!

What are some of the best horror books out there? I have been having trouble finding good horror books consistently but it remains my favorite genre. So any recommendations would be much appreciated
