Here's a woman with a more sightly case of steatopygia. It causes a buildup of tissue in the butt, thighs, hips, calves, and lower belly. It should be noted that the larger buttocks causes a lordotic posture (notice the large curvature of these womens' lower backs). This is found in African men as well, who tend to have larger and more bulbous butts than men of other races, and are usually far more lordotic than men of other races.

This is sort of a general trend among humans, as an increasingly bipedal shift decreases the size of the buttocks. The more straight your back, the less you actually need your gluteal muscles. The glutes are used to hold the body upright in people with lordotic postures, resulting in further development of the glutes, resulting in further lordotic posture. If you have a buildup of fat and tissue on your buttocks, you need to use your glutes more keep you upright, so its sort of chicken-and-egg (is the back curved because the booty is fat, or is the booty fat because the back is curved? It's both at the same time).

So what happens if you were to reduce the size of the booty by making it have less tissue buildup? You cause the spine to be straighter. This further emphasizes certain factors and processes that lead to increased intelligence. This isn't to say that booty vs brains is a tradeoff, but rather that booty vs straight spine is, and having a straighter spine has consequences, some of which lead to increased intelligence.
