How fucked am I if i don't go to college?

I'm in the middle of my third semester and feel like I am wasting my time and money. As a philosophy major I realize that my degree will not be the most fruitful financially, but nothing else that is taught at universities really interests me. Besides English, which means becoming a teacher. Additionally, I feel I learn much more from my independent reading than from anything that I learn in the classroom. Right now I just feel like I'm here because my parents always made it seem like the only option and I don't know what else I would be doing.

Now I'm in the library avoiding studying for my pol econ final tomorrow. Will probably (hopefully) get a c- in the course. Whatevs.

The waves crashed on me as I fought against them, and my mind quickly flooded with fear. As I looked forward, with each wave of water pounding against my body, I saw the boat shrinking, and it soon became a small dot on the horizon. I struggled to cling onto a nearby rock, but it slipped out of my grip and I was pushed away by the rushing water.

Can anyone here take a look at my UC college essay? My lazy English teacher will not be proofreading any of our essays so I really have no one to turn to.

So, I'm a 21 year old male, born andn raised in the United States, but about one and a half years ago I moved out to pursue other interests. I was studying in community college before I left, but decided to drop out in order to pursue other interests. While I do not regret dropping out (the things I have experienced and learned in this time have been invaluable to me), I feel it might be time to give school another chance.

I was never a good student, and I mean since elementary school; always a troublemaker, never doing the work, feeling out of place, etc. I encountered the same issues during my brief tryst with community college.

Still, I feel it might be time to pursue my studies. So I would really like to hear about your experiences with higher education. Tell me about yourselves: what you are studying, where you are studying, how you find it so far, etc.

I'm also rather curious about the difference in the educational experiences of people studying in different countries. During my travels I met other expats who claimed that the quality of the education they received in Europe was vastly superior to their education in the United States. I guess that's a good a place as any to begin this discussion.
