Been monitoring this thread for awhile, and i just have a few things to say.

* Alot of people don't really seem to know much about buddhism, so i'd recommend actually doing a bit of reading on the subject. It's actually quite interesting and has alot to say about living and the human condition.
* There are many different forms of buddhism and they can be wildly different, they range from pure land buddhists who worship the buddha as a god, to theravada monks living in the more traditional ways, to buddhist punks who mix zen and punk rock ethics.
* Alot of people are confused by the buddhist concepts of emptiness (shunyata), non-self (anatman) and the ending of desire (tanha). Hell, i am too sometimes, though i can tell you right now that buddhists are NOT nihilistic and they can be driven individuals like anyone else. A buddhist doesn't just sit around talking about how nothing matters because he is nothing and everything is nothing and therefore we should not do anything. That is a very silly caricature of a very ancient and interesting philosophy.

All in all, /lit/, i am disappoint.
