found it to be a bit of a slog, honestly, and in the worst sense. trite prose, boring characters, uninteresting setting. mediocre at best. maybe the decompressed nature of the story was new when it came out but these days it reads like bad Mad Men.

is the series worth continuing or is it all downhill from Rabbit, Run?

maybe Updike just isn't for me.
