At first it was aesthetic attraction which developed into an interest in the ideology.
There something attractive about the heroic spirit that fascism irradiates, the beauty of a group of strong men, walking in blackshirts and boots, singing songs about the greatness of their country, defending the order of the nation, and dying because of this, in the arms of their comrades. Plus, there something sadomasochistic about this heroism, which I think is what might have led Mishima towards nationalist politics.
I have also always liked Greco-Roman shit and military uniforms, guess that affected too.
