So I've read (in no particular order); DADOES, Flow my tears, Ubik, the three stigmata of palmer eldritch, A Scanner Darkly, and am currently reading Dr. Bloodmoney.

I tried time out of joint but couldn't get into it, what are some essential PKD I should read besides the VALIS trilogy? (not ready for that yet)

You would probably like Philip K. Dick. VALIS, Ubik and many of his other works are fueled by his paranoia and acid visions.

What are Philip K. Dick's most underrated works? I've read The Man in the High Castle, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Ubik, Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said and a couple of his short stories and I plan on reading Valis, The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, and A Scanner Darkly. What am I missing? Which of his short story collections are worth checking out?

Philip K. Dick explores a lot of themes and ideas that are staples of cyberpunk fiction. Although he predates cyberpunk.

Hey /lit/, there's a particular PKD chart I'm looking for. I saw it posted on here over a week ago but didn't save it and now I can't find it. Please post whatever PKD guides you have.

I really like Philip K. Dick and Kurt Vonnegut. Are there any other sci-fi writers from that time period (1950s-1980s) who are similar? Will I enjoy Gravity's Rainbow?

Spielberg hates nuance and wants every film to have a happy ending. His adaptation of The Minority Report is a prime example of this. In the original short story:
>getting rid of the precog system would send society into chaos and martial law would be enacted
>the precogs are deformed mutants who wouldn't ever be able to function in society or on their own
>the ending is very downbeat
Spielberg got rid of all of this. In his film the precog system is shut down and doesn't have any negative impact on society, the precogs are normal looking ESPs, and everyone lives happily ever after.

Do you like pulpy sci-fi? If you do, you'll probably like Philip K. Dick. He was one of the very first, and best, postmodern sci-fi authors. Roberto Bolaño was a huge fan of his work.
