To be fair, this guys is one of many who are rewriting some of Shakespeare plays (Including Margaret Atwood doing The Tempest), to be published at the 400th anniversary of his death (when he will no doubt be reaching maximum grave spinning). I suspect this bullshit may be at least partly a PR ploy for attention. It still pisses me off. Not b/c the play is great and I'm a fan of Shakespeare (I am), but because of the obnoxious attitude of this pretentious jerk.

Forget that X is harder than Y shit. I was raised in the theatre, barely went to school and worked onstage and off for 25 years.

Comedy isn't harder than tragedy or vice versa. So many factors, like the lines themselves, the way the director wants things, during performance the audience's giveback, and certainly the qualities of the actor and their talents.

BUT acting teachers like to say that shit, so oh well.

You don't need an "online resource for character design". Use your memories of others you've met in the past, those you know or see today, traits of characters you've met in books or movies.
Your imagination. Use it. Maybe it's some awkward pale white guy with a big nose who walks funny. There, I got that from your picture of a duck.
