So Islam is pretty much agreeing with hendonism. But we have to suffer in this life to get that in the next life? Islam for example seems to state men cannot be monogamous and will always want a few partner at least. Because even the lowest man in Islamic heaven will have a wife but two Houris (women of paradise)

So Islam says Allah literally created us with all these shallow desires but we somehow are bad if we do them and go with the desires he created in us? I don’t understand how a God like this can be benevolent

I’ve been having this thought lately and I am sure it’s far from original... but I am trying to find books on it. To clarify, I am not looking for books that say we should be selfish but rather this is something innate to all humans and inescapable.

Literary Theory, as it is practised and as a whole is a set of intentionally vague, contradictory, and ever changing rules that create a logical system used by the academia-media-publishing industrial complex in order to monopolise the judgement of art, secure government funding, compete in the form of social posturing (by far the strongest reason), promote a large government, and guilt trip insecure members of the public in to paying for and proclaiming enjoyment of art.

I'm not even passing judgement on the "value" of this dominant version of "literary theory". I'm simply awaiting the butthurt that will inevitably commence just from pointing out that other forms can exist and not genuflecting towards the dominant form.
