Am I the alone in cringing when I hear people completely misuse the construction "there's"?

It seems like more and more people don't care that "there's" means "there is".

Just the other day I heard a college professor say "There's so many different on this campus."

I can't stand it how slowly "there's" is destroying common grammar.

"I stare with beaten, ungazing eyes; as your beautiful form dances with the wind, further and further away, as I spiral further and further into my dark, unforgiving, merciless, desolate, shattered, beaten, wretched soul. There exist no man who can fathom the splintering pain you have inflicted upon me with your cold smile. Why, beautiful dancer. WHYYYYY??!?"

What do you guys think? I find it hard to critique my own writing, as I am very biased towards thinking it's crap.
