So as far as psychonanalytic criticism is concerned I guess the scenes within the movie would have to be closely scrutinized to determine how they reflected the minds of the characters (use your discretion); and if you wanted to go further, how the characters and settings and their combination in the plot reflect the minds or values of the filmmaker/ writer. "Like dreams, literary works are fictions, inventions of the mind that, although based on reality, are by definition not literally true. Like a literary work, a dream may have some truth to tell, but, like a literary work, it may need to be interpreted before that truth can be grasped."
