How has /lit/ affected you in everyday life?

>whenever I disapprove of anyone I think, "Stay pleb"
>in Tesco I went up to the book section and thought to myself, "Let's see what the plebs are reading"

Question for the people on here who don't do liberal arts at university, don't read philosophy, have never had an existential crisis or don't care about having a life philosophy, you're just a normal person.

How much does reading actually books change you? I think it's almost nothing for me. When I read some of the 'existential' stuff, I just get a vague sense that I should stop being self-conscious and stop caring what people think of me, but that wears off quickly.
