I think this would be better if the descriptions and details were sprinkled out as the characters are interacting with one another or doing something.

Small groups of like-minded people on isolated threads in far-flung, dusty internet forums and imageboards. One of the main things I wanted out of writing my own science-fiction book series (besides the enjoyment of writing in and of itself) was a small community of people who enjoyed my work enough to talk about it. Not really fans, just people who hopefully found my stories and characters and worldbuilding interesting enough to warrant seeking out others and talking about it. That would make it all worth it for me. I don't want money or fame out of writing, I just want to make something that people can enjoy and talk about with others.

Most book series nowadays, unless they have a video game or movie or TV show adaption, don't get much attention. Even the ones that are massively popular within the genre (like the Stormlight Archive, for example), don't get much attention outside of the internet. Books as a form of entertainment are dying.
