i want to annotate a book i am reading, but it's in pristine condition and i feel as if i am desecrating it

i'm gonna go to the bookstore today and buy one of every John Green novel, and then read them all, in order of publication.

I just finished writing a summary for a novel I want to write. I started writing the novel prior to having a summary (I wrote 40 pages or so) but lacked direction, so I restarted. I really liked the idea before the summary but now that I have a fleshed out story, my feelings about it are mixed.

I'm looking for a friendly but critical volunteer to discuss it with me on Discord.

here's the deal /lit/

i did my undergrad in philosophy and ended up buying a lot of philosophy books that i didn't fully read or never bothered reading. i'm going back to school to do a professional masters degree in an unrelated field.

what do i do with these books? read them? sell them? philosophy is kind of useless in itself and i can't help but think reading all these books is a waste of time, but part of me does want to read them. is there any chance that reading these books will help me in the field i'm going into (social work)?

also feel free to talk about how philosophy is pretty useless.
