Impressive. I love the idea of dedicating a ton of time to a single series. No need to think about what you have to read next. Get pulled into a world for a very long time. Keep it up anon.

What philosopher made the best case against materialism?

Life has lost its romantic appeal and man exists, for the most part, in a primarily economic sense. Contrast this with life amidst the "mystique", as it were, of submersion into the aesthetic(and dare I say communitarian) atmosphere of the ancient Greek city states. Where have the Napoleons gone? Answer: they have been replaced by these unaesthetic captains of industry; to serve under them merely grants the meanest form of existence, survival. Man, if he cannot become a master himself, must live to serve those worthy of commanding his life and person. The strong willed prosper as always, but who will shepherd the weak? These so called captains of industry? The failure of both the neoliberal and socialist projects are two sides of the same spiritually bankrupt coin. Humanism, while technically successful, has failed to account for human beings within those realms which can never be scientifically managed. Add to this the hedonistic consumerism which democracy and scientific materialism naturally cultivate(because democracy naturally favors the taste for material comforts) and we have nothing less than a crisis. It is clear that something has gone astray in modernity. Everything is alienated in one way or another. Man from God, man from nature, man from man, man from himself. Life has become sterile and absurd.

I'm thinking of downloading tinder, but I have no social life so that could be a real bump in the road of romance.
