This book literally makes you feel like a rich white girl and it's a great feeling.

Taking a class on literature and mental illness. We're reading The Bell Jar. Have only gotten to chapter 7. My reading comprehension is sometimes crap. Was Doreen date raped or did she want it? Did Esther flee the scene of a rape after Doreen explicitly asked her to help her out if things go wrong? Am 30 year old virgin reading this also so I don't know how any of this stuff works IRL or in fiction.

>Slowly develope serious relationship with girl for the past 4 months
>Think things are going pretty good
>Wake up one morning to her telling me its not gonna work
>She's flying to Greece to study the "culture" because shes scared she'll wake up one morning and relize she's teathered to me
>mfw

Instead of getting bummed out I just decided to read some books to distract myself from the overwhelming sadness. Anyone got any recomendations? Pic related

Hello /lit/,

I come to you seeking your help. Not simply for a work of great literature but for the help of a dear friend of mine. She suffers from anxiety. This causes her to feel overwhelmed on a daily basis. Her friends, family, and myself have tried helping her in any way we can but she's quite the stubborn person. She doesn't believe problems can be fixed by "meditation" or "just relaxing" or reading any of those "6 ways to overcome being overwhelmed" links on the internet. She is the type person where she wants a single pill that cures all her problems, and I've seen her go through a lot of types of pills with none helping her. She even is taking Lithium Bicarbonate to neutralize her mood but she tells me she still feels the intense flood of emotions through the medication, but doesn't want to take a higher dosage to quell the problem. So I've come to you because I believe you guys & gals provide the one bit of knowledge that might help her. She has always told me how she identifies with certain books, and how they have helped her deal with a lot of her problems through associating with others. So this is where you come into play. Can you help me find a book that deals with overstimulation/hypersensitivity/anxiety/being overwhelmed? She has read "The Bell Jar" and connects with it deeply, I was wondering if you all knew of any books similar to it that I could get for her.

Thanks for your help /lit/.
