Hello.
Anon from USA, I'm russian and I have some questions to you.
It's about literature and poetry of the Beat Generaton. Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs and others. Their books - what role do they play in american culture nowadays? How popular are they? The are studied in school, maybe?
Do people of the present-day share the ideas and the spirit of theese books? Are they interested in something like that? Maybe, there are writers in XXI century who try to make something like beatniks?

I'm very interested in all these things, I also love writers of the Beat Generation, yet I haven't read many of their books.
