I'm assuming that everybody on /lit/ who has a Kindle has pirated most of their ebooks. That's a fair assumption, right?

Is ebook pirating as widespread among the general population, though? If it is, then how long is it going to be before the whole publishing industry collapses?

I downloaded a torrent (will not link) that ensures that I will never need to buy another book again. I feel guilty about this (though I continue to use the pirated books)
but I'm not going to throw my money away for some doomed cause.

So, Borders closes in like 3 days. How does this make you guys feel? I get (or used to get) all of my books there, and loved to go into the store on a rainy Saturday or cold, wintery Friday with a book in hand and get some coffee or cake at the cafe.

But yesterday I went in and it was so fucking depressing. Everything is 70-90% off, which means that there's basically nothing on the shelves except for shitty romances and sudoku books. I walked out of there about two minutes after I walked in. It's the last time I'll ever set foot in one, and that makes me really sad.

I really hope Barnes and Noble doesn't go down the same road. Of course we'd still have independent shops, but that would be a really bad sign for the print industry as a whole.

Has anyone here gotten anything from the closing sales?

I decided to check (late as I was) today and managed to find some Haruki Murakami, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Yoko Ogawa. Not what I had in mind, but alright. Most of the store's gone.

So how quickly does Borders drop its liquidation prices? The one near me is at 25% off right now, but fuck, I can still get stuff cheaper off of Amazon.
