First part is the diary of a woman who fell in love and married a pretentious dumbass, and later realized he wasn't a genius but a pseud
Second part is a letter written by the pseud giving his own point of view
Third part their daughter explaining how she grew up and became a strong woman in spite of her father being a patriarcal cunt

This. Was really great. Story of a young woman who falls in love and marries a pseud. The first part is the diary of the girl, then it's a long letter from the husband. It's all about love and religion and morals and being a hypocrite or not. And then the last part is a narrative told by their daughter, and it's more about the condition of women in general and marriage and how to be kinda free in spite of a conservative society. The whole thing is beautifully written, as always with good old Gide. I guess it's even one of the main reasons why Gide is continously underrated - prose is very classic. Most pseuds can't admit that you can be a great writer without being formally modern.
