Talk about another author, then. I'm new here, currently going back to Michael Moorcock's Elric books after a few years hiatus. Moorcock has some issues as a writer, and isn't the best with nomenclature and some sequences are wonky, but the grand scope of his multiverse, is awesome. Elric, Stormbringer, the chaos gods and Melniboneans are all great. Granted, these were his first forays into authorship, I believe.

Also re-reading Starship Troopers.
