My only friend wants to read Atlas Shrugged.
I'm afraid he'll fall into a cult, just like anyone else who's read this book.
I want to know the detailed criticism of this book that even my friends who don't read at all can understand.
Or just tell me the problem of the plot that you couldn't ignore it.

Guys guys what if Bakkerbros are the backbones of /lit/ and the ones holding up the quality of conversation? We're essentially the private business owners of Atlas Shrugged and the /wsffg/ diaspora is a result of basically us shrugging off the weebs (government/workers). Their thread will crumble without us in no time and the weebs and people defending anime will look up and shout "save our thread" and we'll whisper "no". Anyways fuck anime amirite XD?

Reminder that if your philosophy is pro-war, then it is pro-human suffering and by default objectively incorrect and morally irreconcilable.

Holy shit this is good. The way it deftly wiped the shit off my ass really changed how I think about shitting. Compared to regular toilet paper, this is so smooth and comforting. 10/10 would flush again.

Reminder that the philosophy of objectives is a philosophy only for a small minority of Übermenschen. The ideas were not intended to be adopted by the masses and there shouldn't be an objectivst civilization.
The philosophy should appeal to people who think they are the master of their own faith and want to manifest their dreams. That is the only reason it appeals to the teenager, because they have not been confronted with the harshness of reality. Most of them actually make the realization that they are in fact not something special that they are not like John Galt, but more like Eddie Willers. Her philosophy is meant for people like a Leonardo da Vinci or an Elon Musk.

So 99.99% /lit/ (including me) gets filtered.

Is this a good argument for objectivism? The dude who confronted me with this stuff was extremely obnoxious and unpleasant to talk to, but I find myself returning to this argument again and again.

I read the whole fucking thing and here are my thoughts:

>this book is WAY longer than it should be. It could easily have been kept under 400 pages if Rand didnt repeat the same ideas over and over again
>the characters are not even believable, NOBODY behaves like the characters in this book. Yes, I know it is fiction, but still the characters dont even come close to resembling real human behaviour
>Dagny is a bland and uninteresting main character. Also, she is a gold digging whore
>even though Rand claims to be against any kind of cult, there is literally a cult towards John Galt. Dagny, Hank, D'Anconia, Dr Akston and Ragnar literally worship him as some kind of living god or something
>why did they need to go back to civillization? Why didnt they stay hidden in the valley and built a new world instead of rebuilding a world that was in shambles?
