I honestly cannot even comprehend a bigger waste of time than watching other people play video games.

Is this real life? Is this the world we live in? The youth of today watching other youths play video games?

Idk man those dances at least seemed more "natural" of how they came about and are performed.

So you're saying that if I call you out on your bullshit that means I'm clearly worshiping a surrogate father figure. Seems legit

Logic.

Haven't read that particular book, but studying logic will change the way you look at the letters and humanities as a whole.

Contrary to popular belief, reading big novels does not make you smart.

Novels are entertainment. Real patricians read nonfiction for study and novels for diversion; this is not up for debate.

Alternately, you can watch good television and film after a long day of studying.

In common parlance, being "well-read" is basically reading a bunch of novels like Dickens, Austen, Tolstoy etc... especially 20th century novels like The Great Gatsby, Slaughterhouse Five, The Stranger, The Catcher in the Rye, whatever.

Anybody who knows about literature would tell you that being "well-read" is basically knowing your history, philosophy, aesthetic theory/modes of literary or artistic interpretation... it's also realizing that for better or worse, you must specialize, hence becoming an expert in a particular field of interest.

You should read the Critic as Artist. It contains Wilde's aesthetic philosophy that the Picture relies on so dearly.

It it homosexual? Maybe. Maybe we're all a little gay, anon.

What he's saying is that ad hominem is not always an informal fallacy. Ad hominem remarks can be *ad rem* or to the point of the discussion. So, if you're discussing Roger Scruton's character, or his "sincerity", I would say that the scandal mentioned is ad rem.
