It's funny because in the Peterson/Zizek debate the salient point the communists kept cackling about was how ludicrous it was that Peterson actually read Marx and not the thousands of reactionaries and reinterpretations about communism since Marx. That he based his views and refutations on something so dated. As though it was possible or reasonable to simply refer to the endless authors or ideas that have evolved from Marx and how having failed to familiarize yourself with them renders your views invalid - - never mind any actual particular ideas themselves, just drop some no-name name.

There is absolutely nothing you can say or do to convince an ideologue and it's ridiculous to try. Of course their continued existence against the many object lessons of history proves that without my needing to say it.
