Nearly finished the Decameron. It's great, but 99% of the "romance" was just cuckold fantasies. Seriously, why did every love tale have to involve someone else's wife?

Nevertheless I continue to seek all Pre-Romeo and Juliet romance books. The current list, in the order I intend to read:
>Il Filostrato
>Troilus and Criseyde (Chaucer)
>Roman de la Rose

What is next?

>tfw you will never quarantine in a palace in the Italian countryside with your bros and a group of qts and by doing so kick start a new renaissance.

Would the decameron be a chore if I've never read any medieval books? I want to read it while I can get the most juice out of it.

What are some other long books like the Decamerone where you can read a couple of pages/one closed story a day?
I am a rather undisciplined person and it feels like a great practice to change that.
Already know about the Heptamerone and 1001 nights, also the Grimm's fairytales might be suitable for this.

So I want to do a little writing project for myself. I want to write exactly 100 pages of stories. I can't decide between 100 1 page stories, or 50 2 page stories. I want to write something, albeit no where near as grand, as the Decameron. Something with a framing narrative and a general focus on storytelling. What do you guys think? Would you read something like this? Would it be a good exercise, etc etc?

Should I purchase Boccacio's 'The Corbaccio'? Is it a good read?

I verily enjoyed The Decameron.

>Tfw you will never be a young nobleman in the 13th century and - together with your good friends - take refuge in a beautiful countryside villa
>Tfw once there, you will never proceed to eat the finest foods and best wines while having fun with said friends by singing songs, telling amusing stories, and exploring the rustic countryside together and playing board games

Feels bad, man

The Decameron

If Dante has claims to the "divine comedy," then Boccacio has the "mortal comedy"
