Adventure Time isn't random at all and it contains multiple attempts at characterization, as well a consistent and eclectic post-apocalyptic subtext.

I'll never understand how people can look at something as meticulously calculated as an animation and call it random. Spontaneous? Perhaps but that's not even the root of its humor; such an observation is born not from an actual viewing of the animation but rather a reliance on commercials and word-of-mouth.
