Invisible Cities is brilliant. Reading it is like falling into a meditative trance of pure ecstacy.

If I've read Invisible Cities and If on winter's night, and I liked both of them okay, should I bother with The Baron In The Trees and shit? It seems like all anyone ever talks about are those two big ones

Calvino is the comfier late-century Italian novelist IMO.

Name a better author.

Thoughts on him? Is he really as good as Gore Vidal says he is?

Have you read any Calvino?

I've recently finished Invisible Cities and the Complete Cosmicomics. I'm reading some other stuff before reading If on a Winter's Night a Traveller because although I love his work so far his style is something which I need a break from.

Anyway, have you any particular favourite city from IC or a favourite story from Cosmicomics? Any views on some meanings or anything like that? I'm just interested in discussing this guy.

Italo Calvino would make amazing company if his essays are anything to go by.

Did anyone ever read I. Calvino?

I'm quite impressed by his works. He created a personal idea of lecterature and stayed loyal to it in each book.

I just think that in "Six Memos for the Next Millennium" (transcription of Lectures that he did as a teacher in America, in wich he explain also his creating process) he just forecast the future.
