I am going to study Russian history, you can't expect someone to digest the entire relevant lexicon of a century of history in a mere few weeks. These are just the books I have on deck. Ironically, every time I asked for a series of literature on Russian/USSR history of the past century from Lenin through the fall of communism, the post gets ignored, or ONLY Gulag Archipelago is mentioned. (This happened at least 3 times.) On the other hand, people were recommending "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" but it seems counterproductive to me to read fiction when I want to study literal, actual history. Motivation, primary state actors, political/social sphere changes, social attitude toward the institutions, policy consequences, etc.

I read "We" years ago on my dystopian novel kick, it's a nice book but, to act somewhat to the contrary of myself then, judging by the amount of fiction on that chart, it's still not the type of chart for which I'm looking, although I appreciate the contribution. I'll save it at least. But for the time being, fiction comes after actual study. Fiction is for carefree times of peace and self-indulgence. It is not a time of peace right now.

I did pick up pic related recently it's just not on my "on deck" list. It will come after I plough through some of the backlog.
