The excerpts from this were bad, as per usual with Lin.

People seem to like Tao Lin because he depicts some empty, uninteresting existence they identify with and -in their generational narcissism- enjoy being reflected back at them. It's not for me. Outside of a few brutally dryly-funny scenes, he's worthless.

No, we're mostly marxists, anarchists, or apolitical over here.

"The liberty of every individual is only the reflection of his own humanity, or his human right through the conscience of all free men, his brothers and his equals. I am not myself free or human until or unless I recognize the freedom and humanity of all my fellowmen."
- Mikhail Bakunin, 1871

I wonder what "4chan: The Collected Works" would look like.

Three: one for my neighborhood's library, one for the adjacent borough (also, a county library card in general), and one for the Free Library. Four if you count my university ID, which also functions as a library card.

haven't read Steal This Book, but I do recommend Society of the Spectacle for a difficult and enlightening anti-capitalist read. Doesn't really describe a "lifestyle," but describes similar ideas.

Sorry, anonymous message boards don't come anywhere close to equating to "paper journalism." In fact, the long-form polemic is pretty much the only place where you can have a healthy discourse about Israel, as long as it doesn't read like the fucking Unibomber Manifesto.

Every other Bret Easton Ellis novel, to a degree. I mean, they're all about morally-devoid, rich, privileged people. Less Than Zero is actually a bit more unsettling than American Psycho, which is flat-out hilarious.
