What simulated experiences do I need to do to give myself the mentality to get a gf?

could be through books, poems, irl experiences, movies/tv, vidya, etc

/lit/ any advice on how to slow pacing down? I thought I'd give writing a shot to try and improve myself, but I can't slow my characters down? Even when I'm writing about the scenery or the character's thoughts it feels like I have the nitro on.

I'm comparing myself with my age group/demographic at large, though. Many of whom are surprisingly successful despite not having gone to uni, but that's what happens when you get tricked into going to uni.
