Very interesting, honestly this is my first time coming across this effort. Tip o' the hat for your services, I might be adding in a lecture or two myself if my favorites aren't catalogued yet.

Anybody interested in the McKenna archive project can check it out at these links:

Curious why you aren't interested in McKenna any longer?

Well I was mostly joshing with you but I think it is easier to make the argument that Tara Brach is not a Buddhist than it is to say that Mooji is not an Advaitin. Like I said here. >>13498170 And I know you're technically supposed to learn all Advaita terms and all that in Classical Advaita but this is definitely not true in Neo-Vedanta and especially not true in Neo-Advaita.

But anyway dunno why i'm trying to pit you against Buddhists or imply the Advaita pipeline to cults especially since I mostly study Advaita these days anyway. Maybe it's because i've grown disillusioned a bit by it since it feels like without the cultural context of Hinduism and all its history it is severely lacking. In the words of Nietzsche, "without the fragrance of Hinduism".
>The Parmenidean escape was not the flight from the world taken by the Hindu philosophers; it was not evoked by a profound religious conviction as to the depravity, ephemerality and accursedness of human existence. Its ultimate goal, peace in being, was not striven after as though it were the mystic absorption into one all-sufficing ecstatic state of mind which is the enigma and vexation of ordinary minds. Parmenides' thinking conveys nothing whatever of the dark intoxicating fragrance of Hindu wisdom which is not entirely absent from Pythagoras and Empedocles. No, the strange thing about his philosophic feat at this period is just its lack of fragrance, of color, soul, and form, its total lack of blood, religiosity and ethical warmth. - Nietzsche

Anyone care to give me the quick rundown on "Logos"? Every fucking "trad Christian" is using it nowadays and it seems to me that for them it means no more than "What I like = Logos and what I don't like = anti-Logos".

Anyone care to explain what the actual pre-Christian Greeks believed to be Logos? Would they be confused by the Christian(ancient and modern) use of logos?

i don't remember, actually. don't listen to me, i'm an evil spirit. stay on the path. might've been wikipedia or a book i was reading. fwiw im interested in Jaynes idea. it fits nicely with the agreeable concept of civilization as an accretion of viral (self replicating, symbiotic) ideas. reading the summary of his book i can identify how the utterly sacred and priceless value on life of humans in the first world makes us misunderstand the savages of the ancient worlds (who incidentally had much less to live for). also, being a Jungian, this book seems a neat exploration of how the unconscious may function on a layer below symbols.

Why is homosexuality "immoral"?

Should such individuals be institutionalized or killed?

If so, why?

I dont think there is A book. Maybe a bunch of them.
If anything anon Ill tell you I got dumped by the most beautiful girl Ive ever stuck my dick/heart into a year ago. She was an angel. It still hurts a little from time to time and even tho Ive had other partners I cant fully get over her. But it gets easier and someday you forget about her 4 days a week. So hold on, it may get better it may get worse but is sure as hell gets more endurable.

actually if i remember correctly second cousin is enough of a genetic difference to avoid any sort of negativity from inbreeding. its when you breed any closer than that when the negative consequences happen

so yeah "muh genetic diversity multiculturalism" is a meme

>You have a picture of life within you, a faith, a challenge, and you were ready for deeds and sufferings and sacrifices, and then you became aware by degrees that the world asked no deeds and no sacrifices of you whatever, and that life is no poem of heroism with heroic parts to play and so on, but a comfortable room where people are quite content with eating and drinking, coffee and knitting, cards and wireless. And whoever wants more and has got it in him--the heroic and the beautiful, and the reverence for the great poets or for the saints--is a fool and a Don Quixote.

I just finished reading Steppenwolf, and found lots of the passages about the 'lukewarm' middle class to be insightful in a way that left me wanting more.

Can /lit/ recommend any other works which describe or critique the middle class?

Fuck, I always suspected it would end like that. Homogeneity of a one world type culture and government. Sometimes I wonder if being born in the 90's made things different for Westerners. Its weird to think of a world without homogenization due to computers.

i read by glancing in between words.

>demonstration
the * car jumped * over midnight * rampaging drinking *restaurant sometime * last * summer.

i learned this by tracking my eye movements with software i rigged up. i don't consciously do this, it feels like i'm just scanning left-to-right, but that's what it looks like when i examined the skipping.

drunk on alcohol, the skipping was larger, i tended to skip more words and consequently understood less.

anyway, i'm no scientist or anything, so it might be well known, but i thought it was cool.
